Considering the end Empty
PostSubject: Re: Considering the end   Considering the end EmptySat May 30, 2009 12:44 pm

Fear gripped Ellie's stomach as she ran into an empty patient's room and slammed the door shut. She couldn't take her meaningless life any longer. She looked around the room and noticed a mirror on the wall in front of her. She picked up a lamp and using the base she hit the mirror hard in the center. She jumped back as the glass shattered into a hundred fragments. There was a peice shaped like the blade of a knife. ''perfect.'' she whispered, picking up the peice. She dragged herself across the floor until she was leaning against the wall opposite the door.
She rested the blade against the main vein in her left wrist. The skin broke and a drop of blood formed at the edge. She was considering it. Should she do it?

Wilson heard the crash of the mirror breaking from a patient room, that he was just leaving, several doors across. Rather confused he walked towards the source of the noise, to be confronted with the sight of his 14 year old cancer patient, Elizabeth Cutlass, holding a shard of broken glass to her skin which was already glistening with the blood that had already been drawn.
"Elizabeth," Wilson said uncertainly, eyes on the glass, "Put that down."

Ellie looked up at Wilson. Dark rings circled her tired eyes. "Leave me alone." She snapped. A trickle of blood running down her wrist.

Ignoring her request, Wilson started to walk slowly and cautiously towards her. "What are you doing?" he asked, hand going to his pocket for his pager.

Ellie looked up at Wilson. Glaring in anger. ''That is none of your business." She hissed, continuing to watch him with annoyance.

"It's in my medical interest as your Doctor," Wilson responded, hand resting on his pager which was still in his pocket, "Whatever your doing doesn't look good. So just put the glass down."

Ellie watched for a moment before dropping the shard of mirror to the floor then continued to sit and watch Wilson for a minute, then looking down and glaring at the floor. Her eyes beggining to well up.

"Do you want me to ring your parents, to pick you up from the hospital?" Wilson asked, standing there, unsure of what to do.

Ellie looked up in horror. "No!" She gasped in shock. "They can't know! No way!" She continued to stare at Wilson in fear. "Do not tell them! No." she repeated.

Wilson found this response to his suggestion rather odd, and was shocked by the horror that met it. "Okay, I won't tell them," he said reassuringly, and then added, eying the sards of broken mirror scattered all over the ground, "Though you might want to get off the floor. Your going to cut yourself on that if your not careful"

Ellie tilted her head slightly and eyed Wilson aprehensively. Trying to evaluate his behaivour and after concluding he was not joking she pushed herself up from the ground but leaned on the peice she had previously dropped to the floor which then sliced open the skin of her palm. She swore loudly and removed the broken peices from her skin.

"Are you okay?" Wilson asked, eyeing the fresh wound with concern, eyes then moving to scan across the room to see if a first aid kit was in site.

"Yeah, m'fine." Ellie muttered continuing to pick the glass from her hand. She didn't accept help unless she could help it. The problem she faced was that the small peices of glass kept slicing open her fingers as she tried to remove them.

Wilson noticed a green first aid box plastered to the corner of the wall after a few seconds of looking. Glancing back at Elizabeth's failing attempt at removing the glass he then walked over to the first aid kit, getting out tweezers, antiseptic wipes and a bandage. He then walked over with these in hand to where Elizabeth was sitting. "Shall I sort that out for you?" he asked, slightly amused.

After another failed attempt which led to a split in her forefinger, she gave up. "Fine." she said with a sigh. Holding out her hand to be healed.

Wilson took hold of her hand gently, carefully using the tweezers to try and remove the glass still remaining in the cut. "So, not had a great day today?" Wilson asked, whilst still removing the small shards of mirror, more successfully then Elizabeth's previous attempts.

"You could say that." Ellie agreed solemnly. Barely feeling the glass being removed from her hand but eyeing the antiseptic cautiously.

Wilson removed the last piece of glass from the wound that he could see, dropping it a few inches away from them. He then opened one of the sachets containing the antiseptic wipes."This might sting a bit," he warned.

"What do you mean by that?" Wilson asked, confused by the question. With the antiseptic wipe, that was giving off a strong odour that smellt strongly of TCP, Wilson wiped it over the wound.

"Hm." Ellie yawned. Too tired to argue about the bandages. The Insomnia was affecting her personality which was causing her distress.
"I wouldn't be able to ..." she couldn't finish cause she yawned again. "Sorry, as I was saying. I could never work somewhere like this."

"Working in this sort of environment isn't for everyone," Wilson agreed, whilst fastening the bandage around her hand with tape, "There. Done."
